Practices per 10,000 residents is the number of practice locations in a county divided by the county’s Census Bureau five-year population estimate, times 10,000.

It is DDSIntel’s location-based measure of provider density. It differs from the dentist-based ratios most sources cite: a county can have many dentists in a few large group locations, or many small solo locations. Counties with fewer than 10 practice locations are suppressed.
